Check out our Team Video from 2024

In 2024- DP officially Launched our Youth Dragon Boat Team.

Students came out in Early Spring to begin land workouts and team exercise in local parks. We grew from there and trained hard together all year. Over 47 students learned this cultural sport with us in 2024 and received support to exercise, eat healthy, join gyms, and empower each other.

-On June 1, our students exceeded all expectations and won the Regional Youth Cup at the Independence Dragon Boat Regatta! They qualified for the B Division and raced serious adult teams from across the region. Parents came out to cook and cheer, and our team came together through teamwork.

-Funds ran out, but students chose to keep practicing in the early mornings all summer. In August, we hosted the second annual Southeast Asian Water Festival. Incredibly, our youth won 2 Gold Medals and won the entire event!. At the Northeast Dragon Boat Challenge, students won Silver in the Community Division, losing by 0.5 seconds.

-All Students are new to Dragon Boat Racing and very few were into sports or physical fitness. Our team teaches collaboration, communication, hard work, and ways to incorporate healthy living into daily life in the city. Everything is provided free to all students!

-Our team got noticed by coaches from around the region. 5 students have been selected for Team USA! We will be working harder than ever in 2025 to grow, get in shape, help each other, and have fun competing.

“I had never joined a sport before. I was shy and afraid.... This Dragon Boat team taught me the importance of getting stronger and improving my health. This team has become like my family. I love all the beautiful moments we share together... out in nature”
